Micah is a minor prophet in the Old Testament with a huge voice. God calls him to speak to Samaria and Jerusalem concerning their idolatry. He was sent to God’s own people to prophecy judgment against them. This correlates perfectly to SRA and the church today.
There is idolatry in our church!
Idolatry is the worshiping of other gods, which is as evil. What is SRA? It is worshiping Satan, which is as evil as things can go. There are no more steps someone can go in the evil spectrum once a person reaches worship the devil himself.
SRA members hide in churches.
I know this statement may seem far out there and may not seem like something we need to worry about, but this is a BIG problem in our churches today. My own father got “saved” and went to a church, becoming the worship leader in a very short amount of time. He was given high school Sunday School classes to teach and eventually began teaching adults “Faith” classes. Unfortunately, my experience is not uncommon for abuse survivors.
Many SRA survivors report SRA active parents as members and leaders of churches across the denominations.
I would argue that this is strategic. Why?
- It insulates a family from SRA charges. How could someone believe parents engaged in SRA with their children if they were “upstanding” members of a church?
- It is easy to fake faith. My father was very good at looking “upright” while at home he would attack me for thinking God was good. My parents would attack my faith in God consistently at home.
- There is demonic strategy in keeping the church from walking in all God has to offer. Think about how moves of God can be stopped by members of the church. This is a real problem. Think about all the implications of this!
- The devil is shrewd. It has been proven over and over again. Why wouldn’t he infiltrate the church.
So we need to move to some hard hitting questions.
Are there members of my church or leadership involved in satanic ritual worship?
It is very possible. I would be surprised if there are churches without any satanic active members.
How do we find then?
Christians must hone the Holy Spirit gift of discernment. I know there were people who were close to God that had red flags about my father and felt evil coming off of him. Church, we need to start heading discernment.
What do we do when we have spiritual red flags?
Many have the “let’s just wait and see what happens.” I argue that we cannot afford that. Am I asking for a witch hunt? Absolutely not. We have to start the conversations in our church to figure out how to listen to God, have checks and balances, and learn how to take the red flags from the Holy Spirit and do with them what God wants. At the very least, these red flags need to be heeded and prayed over. Don’t shrug them off with a wait and see attitude.
When you speak deep truths, so certain members debate and resist?
If you have members that choke at teachings that are true it might be someone to keep any eye on. If they are contending against the deep truths and give examples in life as reasons to go by other than the Word of God, it may be someone to pray about. It could be that they are milk Christians, so again, discernment is key. Do they fight healing for all? Do they fight being filled with the Spirit of God as old and done away with? Do they see the God of the Old Testament as different from the God of the New Testament? Do they focus strongly on religion over relationship? Do they push people away from God’s love and direction? Look closer.
Why don’t we see the manifestations of miracles and moves of God in our churches across the board?
We all know that something is holding back the church at large from all that God has for us to operate in and we all want to know what it is. I am here to tell you that this is a big impediment. These members are there to tamp down the Spirit. If the devil can’t stop people from getting saved he can certainly stop them from moving in the Spirit the way God intends.
What can my church do?
You start small. The first thing the church needs is education on the enemy. All good armies study their enemy and his strategies. What does the church do in general? Hide in fear from even the mention of the enemy or what he is about. If I could have a dollar from every church member who has told me not to talk about SRA because it makes people nervous! I would be rich. Yes, it makes people nervous to talk about Satan and his devices. It is time for the church to become proactive. Let’s learn what the devil is about. Let’s learn what he is doing against our own church. Let’s get our prayer teams fighting spiritually and not just praying over the immediate needs of our members.
Micah 1: 1-7
1 The word of the Lord that came to Micah of Moresheth during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah—the vision he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.2 Hear, you peoples, all of you,
listen, earth and all who live in it,
that the Sovereign Lord may bear witness against you,
the Lord from his holy temple.
3 Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling place;
he comes down and treads on the heights of the earth.
4 The mountains melt beneath him
and the valleys split apart,
like wax before the fire,
like water rushing down a slope.
5 All this is because of Jacob’s transgression,
because of the sins of the people of Israel.
What is Jacob’s transgression?
Is it not Samaria?
What is Judah’s high place?
Is it not Jerusalem?
6 “Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of rubble,
a place for planting vineyards.
I will pour her stones into the valley
and lay bare her foundations.
7 All her idols will be broken to pieces;
all her temple gifts will be burned with fire;
I will destroy all her images.
Since she gathered her gifts from the wages of prostitutes,
as the wages of prostitutes they will again be used.”
In verse 2 and 3 we see that God is not passively watching what is going on among his chosen people. He is watching and He is declaring “enough!”
Today, May 19, 2018, God is declaring the same thing to the church: “Enough!”
God has sent this wickedness in the church and He is calling it out. Will you listen? Take this warning to your pastors and boards. Take this warning to your congregations and Bible studies. Pray for forgiveness for allowing idolatry, even if unknown, into the churches. Pray for discernment and wisdom to fight spiritually. Fight the battles in worship. Declare freedom for the church and deliverance.
God will do it!
Does this sound like a David and Goliath battle? Do you feel like Gideon going up against the army of Midian with empty pitchers and torches? Do you feel like Moses going up against Pharoah? Good! That is what we need.
Only God can fight this battle.
He will give the prayer and strategy. He will lead and guide. It is in our weakness that He can be strong. It is in our inability that brings about the room for God to move. We are entering the ultimate age-old battle between God and Satan, but we are on the winning side. God would not call this out now without having His end game already figured out.
Step in church and be bold!
We can do this! We win!
God is with us and for just a moment step into the glory in our churches that will be unleashed with this cleansing of God’s house!
It all starts with knowing the truth:
John 8: 32
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
Be set free church. This is the day!
